Inspection Carried Out At Rugeley

I was appointed by the Employer’s Agent to provide cover for Platform Housing’s Clerk of Works for an 8 week period. As Clerk of Works all plots were inspected to check on the quality of workmanship and materials at differing build stages and to report any issues that required rectification.

I reported that on two plots which were semi-detached, the wall ties had been incorrectly fitted, which if not rectified would have caused water ingress into the blockwork and major damp issues later on down the line. I advised that the gable end wall would need to be removed to allow the wall ties to be fitted at the correct angle to alleviate this problem. The developer carried this out and I was able to report that the work was in line with all Building Regulations.
